Costume jewelry has advantages that it the jewelry of choice for numerous women although real jewelry may be a valuable asset. Costume jewelry that is layered with silver or gold or overlaid with some other precious metal tends to be the most durable and will therefore last longer. Plated jewelry has a tendency to tarnish and fade and tarnish more easily but it can be re plated.
